WA Country Health Service - WACHS - Wheatbelt – Northam WA

Employment types: Full Time, Part Time, Sessional with possibility of extensions.

Consultant Year 1-9: $412,161 - $523,436 per annum*

Sessional Year 1-9: $790.09 - $1,003.40*

Salary per WA Health System Medical Practitioners AMA Industrial Agreement 2024 (inclusive of base salary, 12% superannuation, and PD allowance). Subject to assessment of qualifications, clinical skills and years of practice.

About Wheatbelt Mental Health Services

The Wheatbelt Mental Health Service delivers high-quality community mental health care, including comprehensive assessment and treatment for people of all ages. Clinical programs include Aboriginal Mental Health Program (All ages), Adult Mental Health Program (18-65 years), Child and Adolescent Mental Health Program (0-18 years), Seniors Mental Health Program (65+ years), and Youth Mental Health Program (15-24 years).

Team includes Consultant Psychiatrist, Clinical Psychologists, Social Workers, Child and Adolescent Professionals, Aboriginal Workers, and Community Mental Health Nurses.

About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist in CAMHS and Adult psychiatry to join our dynamic team in Northam Hospital. Occasional work across other mental health sites such as Narrogin, Merredin, and Gingin in Wheatbelt is required.

This role offers an opportunity to lead, innovate, and shape the future of mental health services for adults, children, adolescents, and youth.

Responsibilities

* Deliver high-quality clinical assessment and psychiatric treatment in a community-based setting.
* Provide expert leadership, advice, and consultation to GPs, healthcare professionals, service providers, and carers across the region.
* Drive the regional implementation of the Infant, Child, and Adolescent Task Force recommendations, ensuring best practice care.
* Chair CAMHS clinical reviews and uphold compliance with the Mental Health Act and relevant legislation.
* Build strong partnerships with key stakeholders, including the Chief Psychiatrist and local GPs, to deliver seamless, coordinated care.

Qualifications and Experience

* Eligible for registration by the Medical Board of Australia.
* Hold Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatry (RANZCP). Certificate of Child Psychiatry (RANZCP) or approved equivalent.
* RANZCP trainee in penultimate year of training with all training requirements completed.
* Substantial clinical experience in general adult, child, adolescent and youth mental health.
* Willingness to work across other mental health sites such as Narrogin, Merredin, and Gingin in Wheatbelt.
* Applicants from the United Kingdom or Ireland who are eligible for the Medical Board of Australia Expedited Specialist Pathway must: hold the MRCPsych (UK) as well as CCT/CCST, have the AMC primary source verification, and intend to live and work in Australia permanently.
* Applicants lacking any of the above qualifications will not be considered.

Essential Conditions

* Applicant must be an Australian citizen or hold permanent residency status in Australia.
* Must undertake criminal records screening, integrity checking, and a Western Australian Working with Children (WWC) Check.
* Pre-Employment Health Assessment (PEHA) required; offer conditional on satisfactory PEHA.
