BUILD A MEANINGFUL CAREER WITH USAs a Disability Services Clinician, you will play a valued role within a dedicated team committed to identifying and supporting prisoners with disability across Queensland's correctional system. This is a role where your clinical judgement and skills have a real impact, with each assessment, referral and engagement helping to improve outcomes for people with disability in our correctional system.You may attend correctional centres across the region to engage with prisoners, frontline staff and stakeholders, developing a thorough understanding of disability referral processes and triaging based on referral criteria and individual need. The Disability Services Team provides a statewide function, meaning you may be required to travel to regional correctional centres to provide support and attend training opportunities.You will benefit from a competitive remuneration package and a working environment that embraces professional development, builds capability, and supports your health and wellbeing, including:Access to flexible work arrangementsThorough onboarding, ongoing professional development and support from the Psychological Services Unit (PSU)Up to 12.75% employer superannuation contribution17.5% annual leave loadingEmployee Assistance ProgramIn this role, you will:Administer, coordinate and triage assessments - including cognitive capacity, adaptive functioning and behavioural needs, to support evidence-based access requests to the NDIS and other disability servicesUse assessment outcomes to prepare clear written reports that inform support planning for prisoners with disabilityCommunicate assessment outcomes, recommendations and support needs directly to prisoners, and assist with consent processes and access applicationsApply best practice behaviour support, including Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), to assist frontline staff working with prisoners who have a disabilityLiaise and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including QCS Mental Health Teams, Prison Mental Health Services, NDIA and service providers including through complex case panels and NDIS planning meetingsDeliver training to staff across the agency on disability-related topics and the NDISMaintain accurate, confidential records in line with QCS policies, procedures and the Code of ConductParticipate in regular supervision, team meetings and professional development activitiesWHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE - Qualifications & ExperienceTertiary qualifications in Allied Health (Occupational Therapy, Social Work or Psychology), Human Services, Behavioural Sciences or a related field, this is a mandatory requirementExperience and understanding of clinical assessment, including standardised tools and functional assessment approachesSound communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with diverse stakeholders in a complex environmentA commitment to evidence-based, person-centred practice with vulnerable populationsThe ability to work autonomously and manage time effectively as part of a statewide teamWhere relevant to your discipline, full registration (or eligibility for registration) with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency is highly regarded, as is membership of a relevant professional associationA current C class driver's licence is mandatory, as travel to regional correctional centres will be requiredApplications may be used for similar or identical positions within the agency that may arise in the future, which could be permanent or temporary in to remain current for 12 months.Job Ad Reference: QLD/687810/26Closing Date: Tuesday, 26th May 2026This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Australia License.
