Overview
Our client, a well-established construction business based in Sydney, is seeking an experienced and commercially minded Accountant to join their finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a CPA-qualified professional with a strong background in the construction sector to step into a stable, long-term role with a reputable organisation.
Responsibilities
* Prepare monthly management accounts, financial statements, and detailed project reporting
* Manage job costing, progress claims, subcontractor payments, retentions, and project cash flow
* Provide budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis across multiple construction projects
* Ensure compliance with Australian accounting standards and regulatory requirements
* Oversee AP/AR, payroll processing, BAS/IAS submissions, and end-of-month processes
* Liaise with project managers, site teams, and senior leadership to deliver financial insights
* Support year-end audit processes and continuous improvement initiatives
About You
* CPA qualified (mandatory)
* Experience within the construction or infrastructure industry
* Strong knowledge of project accounting, job costing, and construction financial workflows
* Proficiency in accounting systems such as MYOB, Xero, or construction software (e.g., Jobpac, Cheops)
* Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
* Ability to work independently and manage competing deadlines
