**The Role**:
We are seeking an experienced Communications Manager to play a key role in the development and delivery of strategic communications for the Department of Education and Training.
You will be responsible for managing key relationships across the Department, understanding the policy direction and translating this into communications programs that inform and engage our target audiences. The Manager takes the lead on the Department's communication strategy, and working with groups to plan a narrative that aligns with the Department's policy strategy, including campaign budget expenditure as required.
The successful applicant will lead a team of advisors who are responsible for project managing major communication activity and work closely with managers in the Communications Division and across the Department to deliver a coordinated approach to communications.
**VPS6 equivalent rate | Six week contract with potential to extend**
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Lead the development and delivery of strategic communication plans that understand the needs of the Department, education stakeholders and audiences
- Lead the planning and project management of major communication activities that deliver on the priorities for the Department
- Establish task assignments, coordinate the activities of personnel and suppliers to successfully execute communication strategies and project plans
- Provide evaluation, budget recaps and audience feedback, and incorporate learning into communications activity and advice
- Contribute to the provision of advice about the most appropriate means for communicating to target audiences
- Provide employees with the leadership, information and guidance required to achieve outcomes and to ensure that these meet compliance requirements
- Establish and maintain a safe and healthy workplace which conforms to compliance standards, and supports responsible workplace behaviours
- Manage team workflow to ensure successful completion of projects
**About You**:
- Strong knowledge and expertise of marketing and communications theory and practice.
- Expertise in managing communications across complex organisation and sector structures.
- Experience in managing relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience in people leadership, including motivating others to deliver against their goals, building team commitment, aligning teams with organisational values
- Empowers others by investing them with the authority and latitude to accomplish tasks
- Demonstrated experience undertaking procurement related roles to deliver savings/benefits across an organisation
- Essential : Relevant tertiary qualification Communications
