Brown Contractors is a family-owned civil construction and traffic control business based in SE Queensland. We’re seeking an experienced Project Manager / Senior Project Engineer (Civil) to lead delivery of road construction projects across SEQ.

The role
You’ll lead civil road projects from planning through to completion, ensuring works are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to specification/contract requirements. You’ll manage programme, resources, subcontractors, reporting, client relationships, and compliance.
Key responsibilities
Project delivery & programme
* Build and drive project plans, construction methodologies, and resourcing
* Manage schedules/programme, constraints, and progress reporting
* Coordinate site teams, subcontractors, procurement and delivery activities
* Ensure compliance with drawings, standards, and contract requirements
Commercial & cost control
* Manage budgets, forecasts, cashflow, and cost reporting
* Prepare/assess variations, claims, and subcontract scopes
* Protect margin through strong commercial decision-making
Safety, quality & environment
* Lead WHS, QA and environmental compliance on site
* Ensure ITPs, QA records, and hold points are managed correctly
* Drive a proactive safety culture and continuous improvement
Leadership & stakeholder management
* Lead engineers, supervisors and support staff
* Manage client/consultant/subcontractor relationships and meetings
* Resolve issues early to keep delivery moving
About you
* 3–5+ years civil construction project delivery experience (PM/SPE level)
* Road construction experience is essential
* Experience with TMR specifications essential
* Strong understanding of programming, construction sequencing, and productivity
* Solid commercial skills (costs, variations, claims, subcontractor management)
* Confident communicator, calm under pressure, solutions focused
Essential requirements
* Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering / Construction Management (or related) — required
* Construction White Card
* Current driver’s licence
* Ability to pass medicals / drug & alcohol testing / inductions
