The key duties of the position include The Role Are you looking to use your technical skills in an exciting, cutting-edge environment where you can solve problems, learn new skills and obtain further qualifications? We are currently recruiting for an Explosive Ordnance Armaments Technician with the Department of Defence in GWEO's Explosive Ordnance Maintenance Directorate (EOMD) at RAAF Base Amberley. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the safety, functionality, and readiness of Australian Defence Force guided weapon systems and explosive ordnance through technical maintenance, inspection and certification activities. Key responsibilities: Undertake electronic/mechanical technical maintenance to maintain and certify Guided Weapons and associated support equipment. This end-to-end process includes maintenance, breakdown, repair, assembly, alignment, calibration, test, inspection and technical certification. Apply current technical data and approved maintenance documentation to perform these technical activities within an explosive ordnance field. Operate within a high-compliance technically regulated environment, adhering strictly to all safety, quality assurance, and regulatory requirements. Accurately record maintenance activities in documentation and digital maintenance management systems. Work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively with supervisors, engineers, technical staff, and other stakeholders. Maintain and develop your technical skills through a range of in-house and external training pathways. Conditions of Employment: Must be eligible to hold an Australian Government Security Clearance. Must be willing and available to work to shift patterns, including nights and weekends, when operationally required. Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and undergo regular safety and medical assessments. Must be able to work at location to a standard working week, no work from home available. Must be willing and available to travel for work and training purposes at other locations throughout Australia and overseas on an intermittent basis. Note: This position will be required to access US export controlled materiel and therefore applicants will be requested to disclose any dual citizenship with another country during the recruitment process. Dual citizens may be subject to further assessment and appointment to this position will be conditional upon approval to access US controlled export material in accordance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). About our Team EOMD is an integral part of GWEO Maritime & Maintenance Branch, which is part of the Guided Weapons Guided Weapons & Explosive Ordnance (GWEO) System Division. Our team consists of various disciplines (including engineering, maintenance & technical inspection, project management, commercial, logistics, and corporate enabling services). We are located in Canberra, Penrith, Amberley, Melbourne and HMAS Stirling in Perth. Our focus is to acquire and sustain guided weapons and munitions for the Australian Defence Force.
