Drive Public Engagement on Major Infrastructure Projects
Use your communication expertise to influence community outcomes and support key transport infrastructure delivery across Queensland's North Coast Region.
Who will you be working with?
You'll be joining the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR), a respected Queensland Government department delivering world-class transport infrastructure. As part of the Stakeholder Management team within the North Coast Region, you'll support the Planning and Delivery business areas by developing and implementing communication and engagement strategies that keep communities informed, involved, and confident in the work being done.
What are the benefits?
* 2 x AO5 level contract roles with QLD Government
* Hourly rates ranging from $67.13 to $72.96, based on experience
* Up to 38 hours per week, worked flexibly between 7am–6pm Monday to Friday
* Opportunity to work on major infrastructure and transport projects
* Be part of a skilled, collaborative communications and stakeholder team
* Applications may form a pool for future vacancies
What will you be doing?
* Advising on communication strategies, stakeholder engagement, and media matters
* Developing and implementing community engagement plans for infrastructure projects
* Building and maintaining relationships with internal teams, government agencies, contractors, and the public
* Planning and managing key communications activities and events
* Supporting media and issues management for transport project delivery
* Ensuring communication practices align with policy, governance, and compliance standards
What do you need?
* Experience in strategic communication, stakeholder engagement, or public relations
* Previous exposure to infrastructure or major project environments (transport or civil preferred)
* Ability to build strong relationships with diverse stakeholder groups
* Demonstrated capability in executive correspondence, media, and engagement delivery
* High-level written and verbal communication skills
* Adaptability and the ability to thrive in evolving, fast-paced environments
* Tertiary qualifications in communications, journalism, public relations or marketing (desirable)
* IAP2 certification in Engagement or willingness to obtain (viewed favourably)
* Professional, ethical conduct aligned with Queensland Public Sector standards
