About the Role:
The Loss Prevention Manager supports Miniso Australia by improving stock integrity, cash handling compliance, and operational risk controls. The role conducts audits, investigates shrinkage, partners with cross-functional teams, and delivers training to lift store capability. Operating independently, this position plays a key role in reducing loss and strengthening compliance across the retail network.
Key Responsibilities
1. Loss Prevention & Investigations
* Conduct investigations into theft, fraud, stock discrepancies, cash/eftpos discrepancies, and policy breaches.
* Analyse POS reports, CCTV footage, and system data to identify loss patterns or non-compliance.
* Prepare clear investigation reports and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
2. Inventory Integrity & Audits
* Perform regular store and warehouse stock audits to identify shrinkage and operational gaps.
* Support and verify third-party stocktakes to ensure accuracy and compliance.
* Analyze stocktake and cycle count results to identify variances and emerging trends, and develop and implement network-wide solutions and preventative measures to minimize inventory loss
* Review damaged stock, write-offs, and disposal processes in line with company procedures.
3. Cash Security & Cash Handling Compliance
* Audit cash office procedures, float management, safe counts, reconciliations, and daily banking processes.
* Monitor cash variances and investigate shortages, overages, and delayed banking.
* Review refund, discount, and void transactions for irregularities.
* Ensure dual-control, secure cash storage, and POS access protocols are followed.
* Assess opening and closing routines for cash-related security risks.
4. Compliance & Operational Risk
* Assess adherence to store operating standards, including cash office routines, BOH security, access control, and product handling.
* Identify high-risk behaviours and escalate concerns promptly.
* Support implementation of corrective action plans across stores.
* Assess security systems (CCTV, alarms, door security) and recommend improvements.
5. Training & Capability Building
* Deliver training to Store Managers, Assistant Managers, and Area Managers on:
* Loss prevention fundamentals
* Cash handling compliance
* Stock management and shrinkage reduction
* Audit readiness and BOH controls
* Coach stores to strengthen compliance culture and risk awareness.
* Support training during new store openings and store leadership onboarding.
6. Cross-Functional Collaboration
* Partner with HR on investigation outcomes and disciplinary processes.
* Work with Finance on banking variances, refund controls, and POS exceptions.
* Support Warehouse on stock handling compliance and shrinkage reduction.
* Collaborate with Operations and IT on process improvements and risk controls.
Qualifications & Experience
* Minimum 2–3 years' experience in Loss Prevention, Asset Protection, Retail Audit, or Inventory Control.
* Experience in major Australian retail companies (beauty, fashion, specialty retail) is highly regarded.
* Strong understanding of retail stock flow, BOH controls, cash handling standards, and POS operations.
* Confident in conducting investigations and preparing factual, detailed reports.
* Comfortable working independently and travelling to stores across Australia.
