What You'll Be Doing
As a Ward Person/Porter, you will play a vital role in supporting nursing staff and ensuring safe, timely and efficient movement of patients, equipment and essential items across the hospital. You'll assist with patient care tasks, transportation duties and mortuary responsibilities, contributing to a safe, clean and well-functioning environment.
Transport patients safely using beds, trolleys and wheelchairs
Move documents, specimens, equipment and furniture to support hospital operations
Assist staff with basic patient care and day-to-day ward needs
Undertake mortuary tasks including preparing, cleaning and transferring deceased individuals with dignity
Work collaboratively with nursing staff and supervisors to maintain smooth patient flow
Operate machinery safely and complete necessary competency training
Report hazards, incidents or equipment faults to maintain a safe working environment
Support person-centred care practices and collaborate with stakeholders to improve service delivery

Selection Criteria
Ability to demonstrate effective communication skills with patients, visitors, staff and managers.
Demonstrated knowledge of Work Health and Safety, Manual Handling and Infection control principles.
Demonstrated ability to work in a diverse and physically challenging position/workload.
Excellent interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships with clients, including ability to read and write in English.
Ability to complete tasks either in a team environment or unsupervised all within a measurable timeframe.
Able to do a rotating roster.
