About the role

The City is seeking a dynamic Chief Procurement Officer to lead a values-driven, high-impact procurement function that supports the City's vision and delivers meaningful and tangible outcomes for Sydney's people, places, and future.

Reporting to the Executive Director, Finance and Procurement, this executive leadership role sets the strategic direction for procurement and contract management across the organisation, whilst promoting innovation, value for money and sustainable approaches.

As the Chief Procurement Officer, you will:

* Drive the strategic direction for procurement, developing and implementing policies, procedures, systems, structures, and frameworks to achieve best practice.
* Provide expert advice and leadership to the City's Executive, client divisions, and key stakeholders.
* Shape strategies and actions to deliver value for money through improved efficiency, while encouraging innovation and sustainability.
* Lead procurement transformation, ensuring collaboration and continuous improvement.
* Build organisation-wide procurement and contract management capability.
* Establish collaborative stakeholder and strategic supplier relationships to maximise organisational influence and outcomes.
* Lead organisation-wide governance and risk frameworks to ensure compliance, manage risk, and realise opportunities.

You are an accomplished procurement leader who brings:

* Hands-on experience leading procurement teams in complex environments.
* Proven capability in leading transformation, change, and continuous improvement.
* The ability to influence, collaborate, and build trust at executive and stakeholder levels.
* A genuine passion for developing people and building inclusive, high performing teams.
* Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, and the ability to promote and embed these values across the organisation.
* Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or professional accreditation (or equivalent experience).
