Healthcare Assistant Job Description

Responsibilities:
* Collect blood, urine, swabs, and other pathology samples from patients in a safe and efficient manner.
* Ensure accurate patient identification and specimen labelling to prevent errors.
* Prepare and store specimens according to strict protocols to maintain their integrity.
* Complete paperwork and data entry with attention to detail to ensure accuracy.
* Maintain a clean and safe working environment in the collection area to protect staff and patients.
* Provide clear instructions and support to patients during the sample collection process.
* Follow infection control and workplace safety procedures at all times.
* Assist with general administrative tasks as required.
Requirements:
* Certificate III or IV in Pathology Collection or relevant industry experience.
* Excellent customer service skills and ability to work effectively with patients and colleagues.
* Strong time management and organisational skills to manage multiple priorities.
* Sound clinical knowledge and understanding of specimen collection procedures.
* Effective communication skills to interact with patients, colleagues, and healthcare professionals.
* Ability to work independently and flexibly across weekday and weekend shifts.
* Basic computer literacy and data entry skills.
* Current and valid driver's licence.
