Primary objective

Under the supervision of the unit manager, deliver the Northern Territory Arts Grants Program and arts development

responsibilities to support the Departments' strategic direction, Arts NT's business plan and the development of the NT arts,

culture, and creative industries.

Context statement

Arts NT is a small business unit with a dynamic work environment. Applicants must promote and adopt a positive and balanced

approach to work. Priority will be given to applicants with well-developed skills in positive customer relationship management,

proficiency in grant administration, and ability to work flexibly in an open plan, busy environment with competing priorities.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Provide impartial and constructive advice regarding the NT Arts Grants Program and arts sector development opportunities to

artists, arts organisations and key stakeholders.

2. Work with artists, arts organisations and communities across the Northern Territory to develop and evaluate arts plans,

strategies and projects consistent with Northern Territory Government priorities and to achieve Arts NT and sector

development objectives.

1. Develop and maintain effective working relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders and Northern

Territory Government agencies to identify and support opportunities to develop and profile the arts and creative industries.

1. Develop and manage projects through to completion including arts grants programs, sector development initiatives, program

evaluation and reporting to support arts development and Arts NT strategic directions.

1. Operate as an effective and professional representative of the organisation to meet objectives within legal, policy and

established organisational processes.

1. Develop and manage communications, stakeholder management plans across programs and prepare high level briefings,

program evaluation and corporate reports.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team and ability to maintain flexibility, diplomacy and

integrity within government and community environments.

2. Demonstrated well-developed skills in positive customer relationship management and ability to maintain productive working

relationships across the arts sector, with community organisations and government agencies.

3. Demonstrated proficiency in grant administration and management and ability to be flexible and work in an open plan, busy

environment with competing priorities.

4. Demonstrated knowledge, and ability to provide strategic arts development advice delivery and workshops, project

management, business planning and evaluation.

5. Demonstrated high level oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate clearly, confidently and to adapt to

different audiences.

6. Demonstrated interpersonal and negotiation skills to manage projects and stakeholders including Indigenous people and in

urban, regional and remote contexts.

7. Displays personal drive and a positive approach to achieve set goals and operate professionally within established organisational

processes.

Desirable

1. Tertiary qualifications or comparable experience in arts administration and/or a relevant field.

2. Sound knowledge of arts, culture and creative industries and development issues relevant to the Northern Territory.

3. Northern Territory driver's licence and ability to travel.
