**About the Role**
This position plays an important role in ensuring the company is operating sustainably, responsibly and in a way that meets the expectations of our stakeholders.
Responsible for helping to deliver Brownes' environmental, social and governance goals for product and packaging, the Sustainability Officer will act as the primary point of contact for packaging sustainability related queries at Brownes.
Staying up to date with emerging trends and innovation in sustainable packaging materials, design principles and end of life solutions along with a strong sense of environmental stewardship and a passion for sustainability is paramount for this role.
**Role Accountabilities will include but not limited to**:
- Collaborate with packaging manufacturers and suppliers to identify and implement sustainable packaging solutions.
- Participate in industry working groups and conferences to stay up to date on emerging trends and best practices in sustainable packaging.
- Map compliance of our packaging to evolving regulations.
- Assist with the identification and implementation of end-of-life solutions for packaging, such as recycling and composting programs.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities related to sustainable packaging initiatives, such as reduced waste and increased efficiency.
- Own the integration of the sustainable packaging design principles in the Product Development process.
- Prepare Brownes annual APCO report and direct the business on opportunities for improvement.
- Support the Sustainability committee with reporting information and communication materials.
- Contribute to the ongoing packaging sustainability strategy.
***What are we looking for?**
- Graduate (Bachelor/Masters) in Food science, Packaging Technology, Supply Chain or Environmental Science field.
- Packaging sustainability experience will be very advantageous.
- Knowledge of ERP and specification systems.
- Ability to work cross functionally to share knowledge and implement change.
