Mackay Regional Council is on the lookout for a skilled and motivated Formsetter to join our Infrastructure & Operations - Field Services team. Key Responsibilities
As a Formsetter, you'll be hands-on in shaping the region's infrastructure. Your duties will include:
* Construct and repair concrete pits and slabs, interpret design plans, prepare sites, level surfaces, install formwork, and finish and cure concrete to high standards.
* Operate rigid trucks (GVM >15 tonne), ride-on equipment, and light mechanical plant safely and efficiently.
* Perform labouring tasks across road and drainage maintenance, including earthworks, pipelaying, bitumen laying, and vegetation management.
* Plan and install/remove signage for works in road reserves, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
* Provide courteous and professional service to internal and external clients, representing Council with pride.
* Complete timesheets and other paperwork accurately and promptly.
* Perform basic calculations relevant to construction tasks.
* Uphold Council's quality standards, taking ownership of the work performed.
* Work in line with environmental legislation and best practices to minimise impact.
* Work effectively within a team or independently, supporting a positive and productive work environment.
Qualifications & Licences
Essential
* General Construction Safety 'White' Card
* QLD Medium Rigid Truck 'MR' Class Licence
* QLD "C" Class Drivers Licence (or interstate equivalent - must transfer within 3 months)
Desirable
* Traffic Controllers Ticket
* Certificates of Competency for road construction plant/equipment
Skills & Experience
* Strong formsetting and concrete finishing skills
* Ability to read engineering plans and use dumpy/laser levels
* Experience in road and drainage construction
* Sound communication and manual handling skills
* Commitment to safety, quality, and client service
* Ability to adapt to changing environments and work independently or in a team
Special Requirements:
* Willingness and flexibility to work overtime outside normal hours, where required, to undertake assigned tasks.
