The City of Whittlesea Building Services Team is seeking anenthusiastic, team-focused Senior Building Surveyor withdemonstrated leadership capabilities to join our dynamic andgrowing municipality. This is an exciting opportunity for apassionate building professional to work in a high-growthenvironment and contribute meaningfully to regulatory excellenceand positive community outcomes.
In this senior role, you will also contribute to continuousimprovement by applying your building surveying experience toenhance internal processes and regulatory programs across theunit.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to
* Work closely and support the Municipal BuildingSurveyor (MBS) and Deputy BuildingSurveyor to manage a broad range of regulatoryfunctions in accordance with the Building Act andBuilding Regulations.
* Actively support the MBS and Building Services Unit Managerthrough:
o Exercising delegated MBS functions whererequested
o Providing technical oversight of the approvals team
o Coordinate, review and sign building permitapprovals, Report & Consent (R&C) sitingdecisions, hoardings, POPE applications, floodingconsents, and fire separation statements via directdelegation from the MBS
* Lead, mentor and support the approvals team by:
o Monitoring workloads and productivity
o Ensuring compliance with legislatedstatutory timeframes are satisfied
o Reviewing, endorsing and quality assuring alloutputs produced by the team within set timeframes
* Assist in building enforcement investigations accordinglyif required by the MBS ( only where the need arises i.e staffabsences etc)
* Support the MBS and the organisation with after-hoursemergency call-outs, in line with the City ofWhittlesea's emergency management requirements.
* Contribute to the continuous improvement of servicedelivery, internal systems, processes, and procedureswithin the Building Services function.
About you
You are a suitably qualified,registered and experienced building professional who brings astrong understanding of statutory building control andbest-practice regulatory outcomes. You will have:
* Current registration as a Building Practitioner in thecategory of Building Surveyor - Limited or Unlimited (Victoriaand not via interstate recognition ).
* Extensive experience in Building Surveying within LocalGovernment, private practice experience is beneficial and thebroader building industry
* A strong working knowledge of building legislation,compliance frameworks,enforcement investigation process andapprovals processes
* A current Working with Children Check
