We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced ophthalmic or optical assistant to join our friendly team. This is a casual position, for three days per week plus holiday relief. Shifts will be varied, with no weekend work. An immediate start is available for the right candidate.
You will be responsible for delivering a high standard of professional care and friendly service to patients, their families, and referring providers. This role requires a mature work ethic, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in supporting our Ophthalmologists and existing team members.
The position would best suit an experienced ophthalmic or optical assistant with current or recent experience working in an ophthalmic or optometry clinic.
Training and opportunity for professional development is provided.
Uniforms will be provided following a successful probationary period.
Duties include but not limited to:
Recording medical history and performing diagnostic tests
Assisting with minor procedures
Cleaning, processing, and preparation of clinical instruments.
Monitoring stock levels and notifying relevant staff when reordering is required.
Front desk reception and other clerical duties as directed
General office cleaning and clinic room upkeep
Essential Criteria:
Experience working in an ophthalmic specialist practice
Proficiency in performing ophthalmic diagnostic tests, including:
* Visual acuity (VA)
* iCare tonometry
* Auto-refraction
* Optical coherence tomography (OCT)
* Humphrey Field Analyzer (HFA)
* Fundus photography
* Optical biometry
Outstanding customer service skills with a professional, friendly, and caring demeanour
Flexibility to work a staggered roster, including early openings and/or late closings
Demonstrated reliability, efficiency, and ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment while being aware of optimal patient flow and patient needs.
Computer literacy and confidence using clinical software
A team-oriented approach with a proactive mindset and the ability to show initiative
Desirable:
Minimum 2 years ophthalmic experience
Sterilisation experience
Experience assisting with minor procedures
Knowledge of VIP medical software or similar
