Occupational Therapist Level 1: $73,427.00 - $85,800.00 per annum
Occupational Therapist Level 2: $91,472.00 - $104,753.00 per annum

A unique opportunity to make a difference in an area of need
KARI Clinic services children, young people and their families in the Permanency Support Program including Out of Home Care and Intensive Family Preservation Program, Aboriginal Family Support Program and members of the community. You will be responsible for providing evidence-based, flexible, holistic and culturally responsive and sensitive care models to Aboriginal children and adolescents aged 0-18 years. You will work closely with families, carers, caseworkers and the multidisciplinary team to achieve client goals. Provision of service is flexible and can involve offsite clinics, preschool/ school visits and home visiting. You will provide assessment and intervention to children and young people with a range of developmental, behavioural and functional difficulties. You will use your understanding of trauma and development to inform your clinical practice and require strong communication and problem-solving skills to support your clients and their families.

What You'll be Doing
The position is based with KARI HQ in Liverpool with added benefits of working for NSW Health and direct professional links and support from the Liverpool Hospital Occupational Therapy Department.

KARI Foundation is an Indigenous not-for-profit organisation, building community strength, supporting well-being, and enriching lives through programs and services.

This role is based in KARI Clinic and works as part of a multi-disciplinary team of Allied Health therapists including Speech Pathologist, Psychologists, Behaviour Support Plan Specialists, Paediatrician and Nurses, who provide quality assessment and intervention for Aboriginal children in clinical, school, and community settings.

Liverpool Hospital
The Liverpool Occupational Therapy department strives to consistently provide high quality and safe care by using evidenced-based assessments and interventions, conducting high quality improvement projects, and supporting education and training. Staff are supported through the department’s clinical governance structures including a competency framework and supervision.

KARI Foundation
Established in 1999, KARI Limited has long supported the Aboriginal community through quality programs and services, particularly in child protection. In 2016, KARI Foundation was created to expand this work, guided by core values of Innovation, Inclusion, Optimism, Authenticity, and Cultural Legacy. In line with these values, KARI Clinic offers culturally informed, multi-disciplinary assessments tailored to each child's needs and delivers unique training and quality improvement initiatives recognised at leading industry conferences.

How to Apply

- Recognised Degree in Occupational Therapy or other qualification deemed appropriate by the employer, with registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Demonstrated clinical experience in the provision of occupational therapy services with a paediatric population.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and computer literacy in a range of programs.
- Knowledge of how to best work with the Indigenous population.
- Awareness of Child Protection and of Out of Home Care.
- Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P2). Those who hold a C class license (P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses and P1 are not permitted.
