About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and reliable Trades Assistant to join our Service team within the Earthmoving Division. Reporting to the Service Manager, this role is responsible for supporting the Service Department by ensuring the yard and workshop are organised, safe and operating efficiently. You will assist Service Technicians with machinery builds, servicing and repairs, provide painting support, and help maintain high standards of housekeeping, safety and quality. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working in a team environment, takes pride in their work and is committed to maintaining a safe and productive workshop.
Duties
* Conduct detailed monthly machine condition reports (training will be provided)
* Provide general yard duties including moving and cleaning machinery
* Maintain a safe, clean and organised workshop environment
* Assist qualified Service Technicians with servicing, repairs and new machine builds
* Use basic hand and power tools to assemble, disassemble, strip and clean components
* Operate workshop equipment including mobile lifting equipment
* Provide painting support including surface preparation, sanding, colour matching and spray application
* Wash and detail machines for the Service Department
* Complete documentation accurately and within required timeframes
Skills & experience
* Previous workshop or mechanical experience desirable
* High Risk Forklift Licence preferred
* Working at Heights and/or EWP licences advantageous
* Basic literacy and numeracy skills
* Ability to operate lifting equipment and workshop tools safely
* Basic MS Office skills (Word & Excel)
* Strong teamwork and communication skills
* Commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement
* Willingness to complete required training and development
