THE OPPORTUNITY

We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Officer (Research and Resources) to join our team! This role is a unique blend of analytical research and hands-on project coordination. You will be responsible for developing high-quality content for AIGI’s platforms while providing critical logistical support for the Indigenous Governance Awards (IGA), including national site visits and program execution.

Your main role responsibilities include:

* Coordinating the Indigenous Governance Awards, maintaining detailed project plans and ensuring all milestones and resource allocations are met.
* Managing complex logistics, including scheduling and travel/accommodation bookings for the team, and serving as a primary operational contact for partners like Reconciliation Australia.
* Executing site visits and fieldwork across Australia, developing comprehensive agendas and conducting thorough risk assessments for all site-based activities.
* Performing primary research and analysis to support the Indigenous Governance Toolkit and other educational materials.
* Developing high-quality written content for various platforms, ensuring it is clear, well-structured, and appropriate for diverse audiences.
* Participating in interviews to collect primary data for \"Stories of Success\" and other AIGI educational resources.
* Preparing onboarding materials for team members to ensure cultural and operational alignment during fieldwork.
* Supporting active risk management for the IGA program, identifying potential issues and implementing mitigation strategies.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

To be successful in this role, you ideally have:

* Relevant qualifications AND/OR relevant experience. We are also open to coaching and mentoring applicants with less experience if you have a strong background in governance or Indigenous research.
* Demonstrated experience working with Indigenous organisations, communities, and individuals in a culturally sensitive manner
* Proven experience in event or program coordination, with the skill to manage complex schedules, travel logistics, and detailed project plans.
* Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to perform primary data collection and translate findings into educational resources.
* Exceptional writing skills, with experience preparing educational materials for a wide range of audiences.
* Outstanding organisational and time-management skills, including the ability to work to strict deadlines with high accuracy and attention to detail.
* An ability to undertake interstate travel, specifically for site visits (typically 2–3 days).
WHO ARE YOU?

You are a highly organised and detail-oriented professional who enjoys the balance of deep research and active, operational coordination. You thrive in a role where you can apply your analytical mind to content development one day and manage complex national travel logistics the next.

You are a clear communicator who values cultural alignment and enjoys connecting with people through interviews and site-based fieldwork. You work effectively within a team environment, take pride in meeting project milestones, and are motivated by the opportunity to contribute to the success of national programs within the Indigenous community.

AIGI is committed to fostering diversity and strongly encourages applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

AIGI acknowledges the Traditional Owners of Country throughout Australia and recognises their continuing connection to land, waters and culture. We pay our respects to their Elders, past, present and emerging. This job advertisement comes from Gadigal Country.
