About the Role
In addition to delivering lectures and coordinating subjects at the undergraduate level and contributing the MSLC’s activities, including new tutor selection and training, you will contribute to learning and teaching innovation in the School and is expected to undertake research/scholarship of teaching and learning in tertiary mathematics or statistics education. You will also work with the outreach team in the School of Mathematics and Statistics, to develop and implement a targeted suite of programs, resources and events for the purpose of promoting mathematics and statistics
Your responsibilities will include:
5. Undertaking lectures and small group classes including Workshops, Tutorials and Computer Laboratories
6. Contribute to research into mathematics or statistics education and teaching pedagogies, especially at the undergraduate level.
7. Advising students on academic and administrative matters pertaining to the subject and course
8. Developing and coordinating extension programs and resources for primary and secondary school students
9. Actively participate and contribute to planning activities or committee work to support capacity building in the School and discipline
Who We Are Looking For
You will have a strong background in mathematics or statistics education, showcasing exceptional teaching prowess and innovative methods. You will posses a proven record of enhancing teaching practices, contributing to educational research and have a good familiarity with Victoria's school curriculum.
You will also have:
10. A PhD in mathematics, statistics, or another relevant discipline
11. Excellent presentation skills, both in a face to face and in a virtual environment
12. An understanding of issues relevant to first year University students in Australia
13. Evidence of contributions to the landscape of the scholarship of teaching and learning
