Position Purpose
The Senior Credit Analyst is responsible for assessing, analysing, and approving complex credit applications within established lending authorities, ensuring high-quality decision-making that balances commercial opportunity with responsible risk management.
This role provides expert credit analysis, supports workflow optimisation, and acts as a senior escalation point for Relationship Managers, BDMs, and internal stakeholders. The Senior Credit Analyst plays a critical role in improving credit quality, maintaining strong portfolio performance, and supporting the strategic objectives of the Underwriting function.

Key Responsibilities
Credit Assessment and Decision-Making
* Assess and approve credit applications within delegated authority, ensuring adherence to credit policy, regulatory obligations, and risk appetite.
* Conduct detailed financial analysis, including cash flow modelling, serviceability assessment, ratio analysis, and credit scoring review.
* Review complex or higher-risk applications, providing balanced, well-reasoned decisions and recommendations.
* Identify key credit risks, mitigants, and structural enhancements to strengthen transactions.
Portfolio and Risk Management
* Monitor application quality and identify recurring issues, emerging risks, and deterioration in credit submissions.
* Support portfolio oversight through analysis of trends, arrears indicators, concentration risks, and credit performance metrics.
* Provide insights to the Head of Underwriting on systemic risks and potential policy improvements.
Stakeholder Support and Collaboration
* Act as a senior escalation point for BDMs, Relationship Managers, and Vendor teams regarding credit structure, application preparation, and policy interpretation.
* Work closely with Settlements, Collections, Operations, and Sales to ensure fast and effective end-to-end application workflow.
* Partner with Product and Risk teams to refine lending criteria, credit policies, and product parameters.
Quality and Process Improvement
* Improve credit application quality by providing targeted feedback, coaching, and training to sales teams.
* Assist in developing tools, checklists, and frameworks to improve decision consistency and reduce rework.
* Contribute to process efficiency initiatives that reduce turnaround times and improve customer and partner experience.
Strategic Contribution
* Provide meaningful insights on market conditions, customer behaviour, and credit performance to support strategic planning.
* Participate in governance forums and credit committee discussions as required.
* Support continuous enhancement of underwriting standards, data usage, and automated decisioning.
