About The Role
This role is responsible for managing all aspects of the NRL's insurance programme including the negotiation and placement of the programme, providing coverage advice to the business on claims, as well as ensuring that business risks are identified and adequately insured against. The role will also involve the delivery of general commercial legal advice as and when required.
In The Role You Will
* Ability to work through the NRL's complex insurance programme consisting of without limitation, financial lines (D&O, professional indemnity and statutory liability, etc.), personal accident insurance for players and public liability.
* Work closely with internal stakeholders and our insurance brokers to ensure that the most attractive risk possible is presented to insurers.
* Prepare recommendations to the Australian Rugby League Commission once quotations are received from the market.
* Ability to manage insurance renewals and negotiate best possible terms for the NRL.
* Notifying brokers/insurers of circumstances likely to give rise to a claim (including on behalf of other insureds, such as NRL clubs).
* Providing the business with jargon-free coverage advice in the event of unfavourable coverage determinations by insurers and recommending a course of action.
* Think strategically and identify the best possible insurance solutions to emerging business risks.
* Explain complex insurance concepts to both internal and external stakeholders in a way that is clear and jargon-free.
Ideally you will have
* Recognised Australian legal qualifications and a current Australian Practising Certificate.
* 4-5 years PQE in an insurance environment, either within private practice or in-house with an insurer.
* Experience providing coverage advice and sound knowledge of insurance underwriting processes and policy drafting.
* Experience and understanding of litigation and alternative dispute resolution is highly desirable.
* Intermediate/ Advance MS Office and project management experience is desirable.
* Excellent time management and organisational skills.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Project management experience is highly desirable with the proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
