Part time .6FTE (22.8 hours per week)

Fixed term contract: to 21 November 2026

Location: Work from anywhere in the western Victoria region - Ballarat region preferred but not essential

About the Role

The Primary Care and Immunisation Support Consultant supports immunisation initiatives across western Victoria, with a focus on increasing uptake of COVID-19 and childhood vaccinations through targeted strategies with primary care providers. The role requires a collaborative and adaptable approach, with strong stakeholder engagement and the ability to work across multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

This is a hybrid role based in western Victoria. The successful candidate must reside within the western Victoria region, as travel is required for stakeholder engagement, face-to-face meetings, and training. Being located in the Ballarat area is preferred but not essential.

Duties include:

- Collaborate with the Partnerships and Public Health team to identify gaps in current support and develop strategies to:

- Improve access and uptake of COVID-19 vaccinations for vulnerable populations.

- Support primary care providers in increasing childhood vaccination uptake.

- Engage with stakeholders to enhance regional access to COVID-19 vaccinations and support primary care providers.

- Maintain accurate records and submit required reports related to immunisation activities to relevant government departments.

- Collaborate with WVPHN’s Workforce Development team to support the planning and delivery of education and training for primary care teams on vaccinations and immunisations.

- Contribute to communicable disease response efforts and maintain relationships with external stakeholders across health sectors.

Key Selection Criteria (KSC's)

Essential:

- Qualifications in health, project management or related area, and/or relevant professional experience

- Demonstrated experience in engaging, training and/or coaching primary health care providers to implement programs

- Proven ability to succeed in a highly dynamic and changing environment whilst demonstrating the ability to develop and maintain effective professional relationships

- Advanced written and verbal communication skills

- Sound understanding of primary health care, current health care trends and community issues within western Victorian and the broader Australian context

- Knowledge of Australia’s Immunisation Schedule

Desirable:

- Ability to assess complex issues and identify practical solutions, ensuring all stakeholder positions are considered

- Knowledge of health stakeholders and local communities in western Victoria

Employment requirements

- Be prepared to undergo a National Police Check, prior to appointment

- A current Victorian driver’s licence

- Working rights in Australia (visa, permanent resident, citizen)
