Capital Solid Surface - Joiner
Location: Quenbeyan, NSW (Servicing Canberra & Regional NSW) Contract: Fulltime, Permanent Annual Salary: $77,000 - $90,000
Role Purpose
The Joiner will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, and installing customised joinery products, including cabinetry, benchtops, staircases, wall claddings, shelving, and related components. The role requires advanced technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work from detailed drawings and specifications to deliver outstanding results that meet client expectations. As part of Capital Solid Surface, the role also involves the fabrication of solid surface products, which is a highly technical aspect of joinery.
Key Responsibilities
* Fabrication & Assembly
* Read and interpret drawings and specifications
* Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and finish timber, laminates, and solid surfaces
* Operate hand tools, power tools, CNC, panel saws, and thermoformers
* Carry out solid surface processes such as thermoforming, bonding, and polishing
Installation & Site Work
* Install cabinetry, benchtops, and other joinery products on‐site
* Liaise with supervisors, builders, and clients to ensure defect‐free outcomes
* Make on‐site adjustments or repairs where required
* Ensure full compliance with WHS practices
Workshop & Quality
* Maintain tools, machinery, and a safe, organised workshop environment
* Conduct quality checks to ensure accuracy and compliance with Australian Standards
* Follow SOPs, supplier guidelines, and WHS regulations
* Support Apprentices and Trades Assistants through guidance and teamwork
Skills & Experience
* Proven experience as a Joiner, Cabinet Maker, or similar trade
* Ability to work independently and within a team
* Strong technical knowledge of joinery fabrication and installation methods
* Competence with woodworking machinery and CNC equipment
* Attention to detail and quality workmanship
* Understanding of WHS standards
Qualifications
* Certificate III in Joinery, Cabinet Making, or equivalent trade qualification or relevant experience
* TRA recognition or eligibility highly regarded
* White Card and WHS certifications desirable
* Current Class C Drivers Licence (manual preferred)
