What is the opportunity?
Thomas Borthwick & Sons is seeking full-time Mechanical Engineering Technicians capable of working rotating Monday – Friday shifts and dedicated to completing mechanical repairs and maintenance.
Responsibilities
· Perform preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance on mechanical systems and equipment.
· Carry out hands-on inspections, testing, troubleshooting and repairs on pumps, compressors, valves and hydraulic systems.
· Follow safe systems of work including permit-to-work, isolations and confined space requirements.
· Record maintenance activities accurately.
· Assist with updating maintenance plans, job packs, spare parts identification and technical documentation.
· Participate in commissioning, shutdown activities and equipment reliability improvements.
· Maintain strong safety practices in all work undertaken.
Skills and Experience
· Mechanical trade qualification (e.g. Mechanical Fitter) or 3-5 years' experience in mechanical maintenance, ideally in Heavy Industry/ Food Processing
· Practical knowledge of rotating equipment, hydraulic systems, pneumatics, pipelines and general mechanical systems.
· Understanding of safe work systems, isolations and mechanical integrity requirements.
· Strong communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills.
· Proactive, hands-on approach to field maintenance.
