We are currently seeking dedicated, compassionate, and reliable Support Workers to join our team and help provide high-quality support to our clients in a range of settings.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support clients in achieving their personal goals and promoting their independence
* Maintain accurate records and reports of care provided, including progress notes
* Follow individualized care plans and report changes, and keep accurate records
* Respond to emergencies or urgent situations as required
* Assist with personal care (showering, dressing, grooming, toileting)
* Support daily living tasks including meals, cleaning, and laundry.
* Help with mobility, transfers, and use of equipment.
* Provide companionship and support community participation (shopping, outings, appointments)
* Promote independence, dignity, and wellbeing
* Comply with policies, safety, and quality standards
To be successful in this role, you will have:
* A caring and empathetic nature, with a genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of others
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Previous experience as a support worker or similar role (preferred, but not essential)
* Relevant qualifications such as Certificate III in Individual Support, Aged Care, Disability, or similar (preferred but not essential)
* Current First Aid and CPR certification
* A valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle (if required for the role)
* Desirable personal experience with a disability in family/ friends
* Desirable experience with supporting epilepsy
* Availability to work flexible hours, including active overnights, weekends, and public holiday
Potential Interview Questions:
* This role requires staff who are reliable and committed to their shifts. Can you share how you manage your availability and deal with unexpected changes or emergencies?
* Why are you interested in Disability Support Worker Role, and what do you find most rewarding and most challenging in this kind of work?
* Can you describe the steps you take when supporting a participant with dysphagia during mealtime to prevent choking?
* Tell us about your experience performing enemas or supporting bowel care. What precautions do you take to maintain the participant's dignity and comfort?
* Describe your experience with wound care. How do you identify signs of infection or complications, and what actions would you take?
* What infection control practices do you follow during personal or clinical care such as enemas or wound dressing?
* Describe a time when you had to work with a multidisciplinary team (nurse, physio, speech therapist, etc.) to support a participant.
* Can you explain the principles of safe manual handling and how you apply them when assisting participants with limited mobility?
