About the role

NSW National Parks & Wildlife Service (NPWS) has a great opportunity to join their Business Performance and Reporting Unit managing projects to improve park management effectiveness, transparency and accountability. The Unit is accountable for strengthening the strategic management of NPWS and of NSW National Parks by supporting:

* Performance planning and reporting
* Evaluation of park management and programs
* Business improvement projects and strategy development

The Project Officer is responsible for providing diverse project management and support services, including preparation of reports and briefs, coordinating resources, maintaining project documentation, and implementing and monitoring project plans. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a high performing team to support the achievement of organisational objectives.

In particular the role delivers projects covering the following team functions:

* coordination of organisational and program planning and reporting
* design and management of park management effectiveness frameworks
* park planning and management data collation, analysis and interpretation
* developing and improving systems and tools that will support park management operations and programs and ensure effective planning, delivery and monitoring of programs.

A typical day could include: liaising with a wide range of NPWS staff to coordinate annual park management planning processes, and seek input to reporting on park management progress and outcomes; analysing reporting data and developing effective communication of the results with key internal stakeholders; providing technical support for planning and reporting systems and reports.

About You

As a Project Officer you are adept at managing competing priorities and working collaboratively with inter-connected teams. Ideally, you have exposure to high-volume work within a large complex organisation or similar and have a passion for achieving outcomes in a changing and diverse work environment.

You are adept at problem solving, enjoy handling diverse and complex data, and are enthusiastic about learning and applying technological solutions. You can collate, analyse and interpret data, and present insights in varied formats accessible to different audiences.

You'll also be highly motivated and an excellent communicator, both verbally and in writing, with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across a range of stakeholders both in person and through virtual networks. You thrive being a team player who is proactive and demonstrates initiative at every opportunity.

Essential requirements

* Appropriate tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent relevant working experience in project management.
* Experience in development and delivery of projects, including the development of project plans, monitoring of project timelines, budgets and reporting requirements, and contract administration.
