As a Senior Electrical Engineer – Secondary Systems at AECOM in Sydney, you'll lead the design, delivery, and innovation of protection and control systems across transmission and distribution projects. This is your opportunity to guide project teams, shape technical standards, and make a tangible impact on the nation's critical energy infrastructure.
How you'll make a difference:
* Provide technical leadership across secondary systems projects, ensuring protection and control designs meet Australian Standards, client requirements, and industry best practice.
* Lead project delivery from concept through detailed design, including design reviews, specifications, calculations, report writing, and relay configurations.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including transmission, distribution, renewables, traction power, and building services engineers, to deliver innovative and technically outstanding solutions.
* Build and maintain client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor on secondary systems matters and ensuring high-quality communication and service.
* Support business growth and innovation, contributing to bids, proposals, and knowledge sharing to enhance AECOM's profile and technical capability in the energy sector.
Qualifications

The qualities that help you thrive:
* Extensive experience in secondary systems engineering, ideally 10+ years delivering protection, control, and SCADA projects in transmission and distribution networks.
* Deep technical expertise, including protection and control design, relay configuration, substation secondary systems, and compliance with Australian Standards.
* Proven project leadership ability, with experience managing multidisciplinary teams, project budgets, and timelines in a consultancy environment.
* Strong client engagement and communication skills, with the ability to advise, influence, and maintain long‐term client relationships.
* Relevant qualifications, such as a degree in Electrical Engineering, RPEV registration (or eligibility), and familiarity with Transmission Network Service Providers or large‐scale utility projects.
