Paspaley Pearling Company is seeking a reliable and self-motivated Fitter with an excellent work ethos and a proven work history. This is a “hands-on” role where you will be focusing on day-to-day workshop tasks and vessel work packages as required by our Engineering team.
You may be expected to reside in Darwin, Australia and work on a FIFO basis. The rosters may vary depending on locations therefore flexibility is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist engineers in executing works on fleet vessels during refit periods and dry-docking.
- Conduct routine maintenance and inspections on vessel machinery under the guidance of Engineers.
- Undertake fitting, assembly, disassembly, installation and repair tasks of mechanical components of ship systems.
- Perform repairs and maintenance on pearling assets, including farm and shell-handling equipment if required.
- Repair and maintain machines and equipment by replacing or repairing faulty parts
- Operate machines and equipment to fabricate metal components
- Test and adjust machines and equipment to ensure proper functioning
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Use hand and power tools as well as machinery to modify and repair components.
- Maintain and manage all engineering tools and equipment designated for fleet support.
- Maintain designated workstation and ensure it is always kept clean.
- Maintain daily communication and strong working relationship with Project Controllers regarding ongoing works.
Qualifications:
- Hold a relevant qualification equivalent to an AQF Certificate III or higher.
- Construction White Card
- Drivers License
Experience & Skills:
- At least two years of full time experience.
- Great attention to details and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to interpret drawings, plans and specifications.
- Commitment to safety and quality standards.
