Working location: Nepean Hospital within the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. Credentialing and privileging may be considered across other facilities in the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District.
Responsibilities
* The number of sessions will be equivalent to a 0.5 FTE, with shared on call requirements within the departmental roster.
* Apply gastroenterology clinical knowledge and endoscopy skills; participate in quality assurance activities relevant to the specialty.
* Contribute to teaching and supervision of junior medical staff in line with contemporary best practice.
* Engage in research concepts as required within the Department.
Qualifications and Selection Criteria
* Possess or be eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
* Possess Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians or equivalent as provided for in the Health Insurance Act 1997 and the Staff Specialists (NSW) Award; evidence of Continuing Medical Education and self-monitoring/audit practices relevant to the role.
* Sound clinical knowledge in gastroenterology with contemporary endoscopy skills; demonstrated through clinical practice and participation in quality assurance activities.
* High level interpersonal and communication skills; demonstrated ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
* Demonstrated commitment to teaching and supervision of junior medical staff.
* Demonstrates professional behavior and acts as a role model for junior medical staff.
* Sound clinical knowledge with a subspecialty in IBD or other subspecialty interest as evidenced by qualifications or post-Fellowship experience.
* Familiarity with research concepts and a commitment to support basic, applied or clinical research as required within the Department.

* Conditions of appointment are in accordance with the Health Services Act 1997 and Staff Specialists (State) Award.

* The position requires a Working with Children Check (WWCC).
