About the Role
Miwatj Health Aboriginal Corporation (MHAC) is seeking a highly experienced Chief Community Wellbeing Officer (CCWO) to provide executive leadership across community health and wellbeing services in East Arnhem Land.
Reporting to the CEO, the CCWO ensures the delivery of high quality, holistic, culturally appropriate and evidence‐based services, using a population health and preventative approach to improve health outcomes for Yolngu people. The role leads large, geographically dispersed teams and champions a Yolngu‐led Model of Care, aligned with community‐controlled principles, AHKPIs and the MHAC 2024–2033 Strategic Plan.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead MHAC's vision of Self‐Determined Yolnu across community wellbeing services.
* Develop and deliver strategic plans for community health and wellbeing programs.
* Drive workforce planning, capability development, retention and succession.
* Strengthen governance, quality, accreditation and regulatory compliance.
* Lead service redesign, change management and continuous quality improvement.
* Oversee budgets, grants and financial sustainability.
* Build strong partnerships with community, NT and national stakeholders.
* Identify and manage strategic and operational risks.
About You
You are a senior health leader with strong experience in complex service environments, ideally in rural or remote settings, and a demonstrated commitment to Aboriginal community control and cultural safety.
Essential Experience & Capabilities
* Executive or senior leadership experience in health or human services.
* Strong people, financial and service leadership skills.
* Proven change leadership and stakeholder engagement capability.
* Experience working with Yolnu people and/or within the Aboriginal Community Controlled Health sector.
* Ability to foster safe, inclusive, high‐performing teams.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Relevant postgraduate qualification in health, management or related field.
* Understanding of culturally safe models of care and Aboriginal community control.
* NT Driver's Licence (or ability to obtain).
* Capacity for frequent remote travel, including light aircraft.
* Current Ochre Card and National Police Clearance.
* Compliance with MHAC vaccination and immunity requirements.
