The Council of Aboriginal Services Western Australia (CASWA) is dedicated to strengthening the Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation (ACCO) sector in WA by supporting self-determination, cultural authority, and sector development. CASWA works closely with ACCOs to ensure Aboriginal-led solutions drive systemic change, particularly in areas such as justice, health, housing, and child protection.
The Role
The Project Coordinator will lead the delivery of the Department of Education ACCO Sector Strengthening Grants Program engagement project. This role will report to the Executive Director Sector Development and Impact and work collaboratively with the CASWA team to coordinate all aspects of the stakeholder engagement process with ACCOs and Aboriginal communities across Western Australia. The project involves conducting statewide consultations to inform the design and development of a culturally responsive, collaborative, and Aboriginal-led grant program .
This role is integral to building meaningful relationships between the Department of Education and the ACCO sector. The Project Coordinator will facilitate consultations, gather insights on capacity building needs, and develop recommendations that will directly inform the grant program design, ultimately increasing ACCO participation in education service delivery .
Responsibilities
* Lead the implementation of the Department of Education ACCO Sector Strengthening Grants Program engagement project across Western Australia
* Coordinate and facilitate culturally responsive consultations with Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs) and communities state-wide
* Analyse sector needs and develop recommendations to inform the design of an Aboriginal-led grant program for education service delivery
* Prepare high-quality reports, presentations, and documentation for Department of Education and key stakeholders
* Manage project resources, timelines, and deliverables while upholding Indigenous data sovereignty and cultural protocols
Qualifications
* Relevant qualification and/or experience in community development, public policy, education, or related field
* Demonstrated experience coordinating stakeholder engagement projects with Aboriginal communities and organisations
* Strong understanding of the ACCO sector in Western Australia and education context
* Excellent project management, communication, and analytical skills
* High level of cultural competency with commitment to Aboriginal self-determination and willingness to travel regionally throughout WA
