Clinical Nurse (Geriatric Emergency Department Intervention), Queensland Health
Provide a supplementary gerontic focused service to improve outcomes for frail older adults in the Emergency Department (ED), aiming to facilitate safe and timely discharge and reduce the risk of re‑presentation to ED.
The Role
An opportunity has become available for a Clinical Nurse (Geriatric Emergency Department Intervention) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 13 000‑strong team is on providing world‑class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.
You will
* Apply advanced knowledge of geriatric emergency medicine and geriatric syndromes
* Apply community‑based service provisions
* Proactively implement the use of Clinical Frailty Scale in ED
* Collaborate closely with ED multidisciplinary staff and Community Frailty Service team members
About you
To be successful in this position you will require:
* Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent
* Registration with the Nursing Midwifery Board of Australia
* Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
* Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
* Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
* Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

* Base salary ranging from $54.45 -$58.30 per hour
About Us
Geriatric Emergency Department Intervention (GEDI) is a collaborative interdisciplinary, specialist team who focus on the needs of frail older people with complex age‑related needs. The service operates 7 days a week, based in Emergency Departments (ED) at both Robina Hospital and Gold Coast University Hospital.
The GEDI service is part of the Community Frailty Service, along with Residential Aged Care Acute Support (RASS), Community Dementia Service & Advance Care Planning Team. These teams collaboratively provide services for frail older adults. The Community Frailty Service forms part of Integrated Care Services, to deliver community facing services and programs across the Gold Coast.
