St John of God Mt Lawley Hospital is seeking enthusiastic and reliable Casual Environmental Services Assistants to join our team.
In this role, you will help maintains a safe, clean Ward/Unit Environment in accordance with Infection Control and Occupational Safety and Health regulations under the direction and supervision of the Housekeeping Manager.
The Position
* Adheres to all Hospital Policies and Procedures including Confidentiality, Occupational Safety and Health, Infection Control, and Housekeeping Protocols.
* Carries out all duties under the direction and supervision of the Housekeeping Manager,( After Hours Clinical Nurse Manager/Leading Hand).
* Works in all areas within Housekeeping Services at Mercy Hospital as requested by Housekeeping Manager /After Hours Clinical Nurse Manager.
* Performs all duties in accordance with relevant Duty Statements
* Maintains a safe, clean Ward/Unit environment using only authorised cleaning products and adhering to the Infection Control Ward/Unit cleaning schedule.
* Maintains the nonmedical consumable and cleaning imprest supplies.
* Reports all Ward/Unit maintenance issues to the Housekeeping Manager or Ward Clerk.
* Reports all periodic cleaning requirements ie (carpets, windows and screens) to the Housekeeping Manager.
* Maintains effective communication lines and teamwork/collaboration within area of responsibility and the Hospital generally.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to work effectively within a team environment, manage their time well, and prioritise workloads in a busy setting. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with a high standard of cleaning capability and a customer‑focused approach to daily tasks.
Applicants should have a basic understanding of safe chemical use and sound knowledge of manual handling, occupational safety and health practices, infection control, and housekeeping protocols. Familiarity with using cleaning equipment correctly and safely is also required to ensure high‑quality and efficient work.

* Salary: $38.49 to $39.86 per hour, (includes 25% Casual loading) plus 12% superannuation
