Psychologist/Mental Health Social Worker
In Australia, one in twenty children aged 5 to 18 will experience the death of a parent before adulthood (ABS Census In Victoria, this means at least one grieving child in nearly every classroom. Without early, specialised intervention, these children are at higher risk of long-term emotional, mental health, and developmental challenges.
Wombat's Wish is a grassroots Victorian charity based on the Bellarine Peninsula, dedicated to supporting children and young people through the profound death of a parent or carer. As one of the few specialist child bereavement services in the state, we provide evidence-based, therapeutic programs that help children understand their grief, build resilience, and reconnect with hope.
All programs are delivered free of charge to our families.
This role involves providing both in-person and online one-on-one counselling sessions (2–4 days a week), offering flexibility while ensuring meaningful connection with the families we serve.
