About the Position
Working within our Mine Site Projects group, our Laboratory Site Supervisors are responsible for the oversight of the team on shift to ensure efficient and high-quality service to our clients. This is a hands-on leadership role, critical to supporting safe and reliable laboratory operations on the mine site. The positions are fly in, fly out based, requiring the successful applicant to work dayshift and nightshift on an 8 days on, 6 days off roster.
Duties
* Provide day-to-day oversight to a team of Laboratory Technicians, supporting a positive working culture, along with personnel training and development.
* Perform and ensure all sample preparation, analysis and reporting is completed in accordance documented procedures, safety and regulatory requirements, and industry best practice.
* Conduct basic routine maintenance on laboratory equipment and assist with the coordination and management of calibrations, preventative maintenance and unscheduled maintenance tasks.
* Identify, report and remedy issues impacting the safety, quality and performance of the laboratory operations.
Selection criteria
* The ideal candidate will possess the following skills/qualifications and experience:
* Cert IV in Laboratory Techniques (desirable but not essential)
* S26 or minimum 2 years in a Laboratory Supervisor role or similar.
* Demonstrated, hands on experience in a geochemical assay laboratory, using instrumentation such as AAS, ICP, XRF.
* Sound relevant administration knowledge and the use of relevant software packages.
* Understanding of quality processes.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Sound analytical skills for reviewing and approving results and responding to client queries.
* Demonstrated well-developed, hands-on people leadership skills with a strong desire to develop, mentor and motivate people.
