Based in Holtze, Northern Territory, Northern Rubber Lining (NRL) is a trusted local provider of high-performance rubber lining and protective coating solutions for the mining, quarrying, oil and gas, and engineering sectors. We are currently seeking an experienced Rubber Lining Technician to join our team full time. Duties and Responsibilities: The Rubber Lining Technician is responsible for the preparation, application, inspection, and maintenance of protective rubber linings on industrial equipment.
The role ensures asset integrity, corrosion resistance, and operational performance across mining and heavy industry environments. Work is typically performed on-site, including shutdown and maintenance projects, requiring strict adherence to safety, quality, and technical specifications. Surface Preparation & Assessment:
* Assess surface conditions and determine appropriate preparation and lining methods
* Carry out surface preparation activities, including abrasive blasting (e.g. sandblasting), grinding, and cleaning to remove contaminants
* Ensure surfaces meet required standards prior to lining application
Rubber Lining Application:
* Apply rubber linings to tanks, pipes, chutes, vessels, and other industrial equipment
* Select and use appropriate materials, adhesives, and application techniques based on job specifications
* Interpret technical drawings, specifications, and work instructions to execute lining works accurately
Inspection, Maintenance & Repairs:
* Conduct inspections of rubber linings to identify wear, defects, or failure points
* Perform repairs, replacements, and maintenance of existing linings
* Carry out quality checks to ensure compliance with technical and safety standards
Quality & Compliance:
* Ensure all work complies with relevant industry standards, project specifications, and workplace safety regulations
* Maintain accurate records of work completed, inspections, and materials used
Workplace Safety & Team Collaboration:
* Adhere to all workplace health and safety (WHS) requirements, particularly in high-risk environments such as confined spaces and working at heights
* Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work environment
* Work collaboratively with supervisors, team members, and clients to achieve project outcomes
Applicants must have:
* Relevant Certificate IV, or have at least 3 years industry experience.
* Working at Heights certification
* Confined Space Entry certification
* Ability to pass site-specific medicals and safety inductions
* Demonstrated experience in rubber lining within industrial, mining, or heavy engineering environments
* Strong understanding of rubber lining materials, adhesives, and application techniques
* Ability to assess surfaces and determine appropriate preparation and installation methods
* Experience interpreting technical drawings and specifications
* High attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team in high-pressure or shutdown environments
