Wurli operates a range of clinics and provides a range of primary health care and other services which include main clinic (acute and general care), Gudbinji Chronic Disease Clinic, Binjari Health Centre, Women and Children’s Health and Men’s Health. Wurli has a range of positions available in our multi-disciplinary team for Registered Aboriginal Health Practitioners who have clinical experience and are keen to make a difference.
What’s the role?
The role of an Aboriginal Health Practitioner at Wurli encompasses delivering safe, high-quality clinical services, patient care, health promotion and education as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Clinical service may include, but are not limited to:-
- Health Screening
- Providing treatment in accordance with CARPA protocols
- Assist clients to make informed decision about their health management
- Contribute to patient care plans
- Administering Immunisations
- Eye Health Care
- Ear Health Care
- Diabetes Health care
- Oral Health Care
- Sexual Health
The positions available incorporate the prospect to work in a range of clinical environments and develop skills and knowledge in specialised areas of primary health care service. Our Aboriginal Health Practitioners use the Communicare patient information system to identify care needs and document patient consultation in patient’s medical file and bring to the organisation a high level of cultural authority which assists Doctors and other health professionals with communication, treatment and any advice relevant to a client’s treatment.
What’s in it for you?
- Salary $67731-$84,822 + Super
- An ordinary working week of 37.5 hours; Monday to Friday

- six weeks annual leave plus leave loading per annum
- one weeks paid special leave per annum
- 15 days personal leave per annum
Is this role right for you?
- Applicants must be fully registered as ATSI Primary Health Practitioner with Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and have a Certificate IV in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care.
- Current National Police Certificate (no less than 3 months from issue date)
- Current Northern Territory Driver’s Licence
- Current Working with Children’s Clearance (Ochre Card)
What’s it like living in Katherine?
This unique opportunity is in the town of Katherine which is approximately 300km south of Darwin. Katherine is a well-equipped regional town with a shopping centre that features a supermarket and many specialty shops. With a population of around 11,000, the population of the region is just over 24,000 people, of which 60% identify as Indigenous. Katherine is on the edge of Kakadu National Park which is filled with some of the world’s best waterfalls and bush walks. Katherine itself is a region full of gorges and misty waterfalls, hot springs and ancient cultures.
