Manage the day-to-day operations of the State Control Centre (SCC)
Fixed-term, full time 2 March **** to 30 April ****
VPS6 salary of $138,631 to $185,518 plus superannuation
What does the business unit do?
Emergency Management, within the Department of Justice and Community Safety works closely with government and agencies across the emergency management portfolio. The group is led by the Deputy Secretary, Emergency Management. Emergency Management includes the department's emergency management accountabilities and statutory entities and offices.
Emergency Management Victoria (EMV) leads emergency management in Victoria by working with government, agencies and business to strengthen their capacity to withstand, plan for, respond to and recover from emergencies. EMV is a statutory entity and is part of the Department of Justice and Community Safety (the Department). The Department, through the Secretary, employs EMV staff and provides corporate functions to EMV. EMV is led jointly by the Chief Executive (CE) and the Emergency Management Commissioner (EMC).
The purpose of the Operations Branch is to lead the emergency operational coordination and state operations in Victoria by working with communities, government, agencies and business to strengthen their capacity to withstand, plan for, respond to and recover from emergencies.
The SCC Manager is a critical role that manages the State's primary control centre for emergency management (SCC) ensuring that the facility has the most effective processes, governance, capacity and technology in place to support its operational requirements.
What will the role do?
Ensure that the State Control Centre is functioning efficiently and effectively to meet the needs of the Emergency Management Commissioner and the State.
Lead and develop a team of professional emergency support staff.
Manage projects and key result areas to improve and build SCC's effectiveness and service delivery to the community.
What skills and knowledge should the SCC Manager have?

Demonstrated knowledge of Victoria's emergency management
Demonstrated leadership in a complex and dynamic environment
Demonstrated ability to liaise with wide ranging stakeholders
Strong skills in influence and negotiation
