Engagement Officer
The Engagement Officer (Years 10–12) plays a vital role in supporting student success and connection within the distance education environment. The role focuses on monitoring, recording, and promoting student engagement across online learning platforms, ensuring that every student is known, supported, and encouraged to participate fully in their learning journey. Working closely with the Head of Senior Secondary/Head of Senior Studies/Heads of Departments/RTO Manager, teaching staff, and wellbeing teams, this position uses data-driven insights and communication to identify students at risk of disengagement and assist with timely interventions.
This role would operate from 9am to 2:30pm during the school term. It is a part-time role at approximately 0.5 full-time equivalent.
Key Responsibilities:
* Data Monitoring and Engagement Tracking:
o Review student activity within Learning@Faith (Schoolbox) to monitor class access, lesson participation, and assessment submissions.
o Monitor Sentral and check teacher engagement records, wellbeing notes, and attendance patterns to identify trends or concerns.
o Enter and maintain up-to-date information in the central Engagement Spreadsheet.
o Generate summary reports or data snapshots to assist the Head of Senior Secondary/Head of Senior Studies in tracking overall student engagement across cohorts.
o Support early identification of disengaged students by consolidating information from multiple sources (Learning@Faith, Sentral, teacher anecdotal records).
* Wellbeing and Student Support Collaboration:
o Review and interpret wellbeing and pastoral care entries related to student engagement.
o Provide concise summaries or data insights to assist the wellbeing and engagement teams in follow-up planning.
o Liaise with teachers and regional support staff to ensure consistency in documenting and responding to engagement concerns.
o Maintain an awareness of regional and individual student contexts that may impact participation in learning.
* Administrative and Meeting Support:
o Take notes or minutes during engagement and wellbeing meetings as required.
o Maintain confidential and accurate records of discussions, decisions, and action items.
o Assist in compiling communication logs, reports, and documentation for internal use and compliance purposes through uploading into the SIS (Sentral).
Key Skills and Attributes:
* Strong attention to detail with accuracy in data entry, monitoring, and reporting.
* Ability to interpret engagement and wellbeing data to identify trends and areas of concern.
* Effective written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on clarity and discretion.
* High-level organisation and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing tasks independently.
* Confidence working across digital platforms, including spreadsheets (Excel or Google Sheets), student information systems, and LMS tools.
* A collaborative, proactive, and compassionate approach to supporting students and staff within a distance education context.
* Commitment to confidentiality and sensitivity when handling student information.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Experience in educational administration, student engagement, or data management (preferred).
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace applications.
* Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (e.g. Canvas, SEQTA, or similar) and school data platforms (e.g. TASS, Compass, Sentral).
* Previous experience in a distance education or online learning environment (desirable).
* Current Working with Children Check (Blue Card) required.
