The Honeywell Software Centre (HSC) is a global software development centre for Honeywell and is recognised as a leader in the development of world‑class software products for industrial automation and building automation. The Sydney Design Studio is part of Honeywell’s global User Experience Design organisation and provides design activities for the HSC and other key development locations. You will join our team that is responsible for the design of the HMI for Honeywell’s worldwide flagship automation systems. Your role is to apply your user experience design and front‑end software skills to help continually improve our human‑computer interaction design. This position reports to the Sydney User Experience Design Studio Director. You will be responsible for user experience design on major Honeywell Process Solutions products and systems. You will work with other designers in an interdisciplinary studio to create the framework and best practices for world‑class design. Together, we will create design strategies, develop advanced design concepts and deliver outstanding products to market that delight our end users.
Responsibilities
- Develop a deep understanding of user needs;
- Lead UX on major projects, working with other UX designers across the business and collaborating with external design partners.
- Provide a clear, consistent voice on end‑to‑end user experience design to project teams and stakeholders.
- Create and execute user‑centered designs for products and services that differentiate our brands in the marketplace around the world.
- Build low‑fidelity, high‑fidelity and functional user interface prototypes;
- Expert‑review graphical user interfaces and UI designs;
- Participate in the product usability testing process by collaborating on test plans, attending test sessions, and developing design solutions;
- Execute UX best practices throughout the product development process;
- Collaborate with other UX disciplines, including graphic design, interaction design and usability specialists to nurture a world‑class organisation;
- Collaborate with software development teams to deliver product releases to meet functional, quality and schedule goals.
Qualifications
- 5‑7 years of experience in digital product design;
- Experience designing UX including but not limited to personas, user journeys, and functional designs;
- Experience designing UIs including wireframes, prototyping and visual design concepts;
- Experience with multi‑platform development, including responsive design;
- Passion to develop high‑quality and intuitive User Interfaces;
- Strong portfolio applying user‑centred design practices in product development;
- Demonstrated experience successfully scoping, planning and executing projects in accordance with phases and gates development process;
- Demonstrated experience leading, developing and managing significant user experience design projects;
- Experience in design strategy, trends and how they apply to brand and product planning;
- Experience evaluating products using design trends, heuristic reviews, competitive benchmarking, formative and summative usability studies;
- Demonstrable talent in developing industry‑leading user interface designs;
- Experience creating low‑ to high‑fidelity user interface models and prototypes;
- Fluent with design and prototyping tools, e.g., Figma;
- Ability to tackle and define solutions, frameworks and patterns for complex problems and use cases for different user profiles in the IoT space;
- Web design or scripting skills for developing interactive prototypes;
- Best practice understanding and experience with HTML and CSS.
