Economist (Senior Adviser 1 (non-Ministerial)) - Office of Senator Andrew Bragg Economist (Senior Adviser 1 (non-Ministerial)) - Office of Senator Andrew Bragg 12 hours ago Be among the first 25 applicants The office of Senator Andrew Bragg is seeking applications for a full-time, ongoing Economist (Senior Advisor Level 1) to support the Senator’s portfolio responsibilities. The position will be based in the electorate office in Paddington, NSW. The role requires the skills of a qualified economist, who is motivated and enjoys working as part of a small team in a busy and dynamic political environment. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to: Analysis of a broad range of complex regulatory matters. Undertake objective and rigorous economic and policy analysis. Provide economic and policy advice, including assisting in the development of sound economic policies. Advise on the application and interpretation of qualitative and quantitative data, together with economic impact analysis. Other duties as required by the Senator from time-to-time. The ideal applicant should possess the following skills, qualifications and experience: Sound background in economics (both macroeconomics and microeconomics). Demonstrated skills in quantitative research, regulatory impact analysis and econometric. Experience in policy analysis and review would also be highly valued. Outstanding organisational and time management skills. Ability to prioritise and manage multiple and competing work tasks to deliver to agreed deadlines. Demonstrated professional integrity and the ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality. Demonstrated capacity for applying analytical and problem-solving skills in developing solutions for complex issues. A respectful demeanour when engaging with office staff and constituents. Ability to work as part of a small team. Additional requirements The position may be required to work flexible hours, including occasionally outside of standard business hours and weekends, to ensure continuity of service to the Senator. The role will involve Canberra and interstate travel. An understanding of the Australian political system and parliamentary processes is preferred, but not essential. Employment conditions: The position is offered under the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984 and conditions are outlined in the Enterprise agreement 2024-27 | Ministerial and Parliamentary Services which include: A commencing salary will be negotiated dependent on experience and relevant skills. An additional Personal Staff Allowance (PSA) is payable in recognition of, and as compensation for, reasonable additional hours of work. A private-plated vehicle allowance may be payable (subject to eligibility requirements). An employer superannuation contribution of 15.4% will be payable. An initial probationary period of three months will apply and may be subject to extension. Staff may be subject to automatic cessation triggers in accordance with Section 14 of the MOP(S) Act.
