About the role
This role will see you joining Southeast Queensland’s most exciting hospitality workplace, with further ongoing developments and growth planned and underway for our Gold Coast Events team, as our resort continues to expand. In this role, you will report to the General Manager Food & Beverage, Events and play a key role in the overall success of The Star Gold Coast Events team.
As Director, your key priorities will be to lead the events operational teams on making growth focused decisions that balance the needs of all stakeholders and the business, demonstrate passion for the business and achieving positive results for The Star Gold Coast. You will empower team members to try new things, actively communicate the benefits of continuous improvement for the business and advocate for change, whilst motivating others as well as constructively challenging how things are done, to ensure that the best outcome is achieved.
You will actively manage the talent in your team to motivate and recognise high performance and coach others to develop into high performers. The successful candidate will actively hold others accountable for their performance and delivering on set goals and be responsible for taking ownership of the role including communications & relationships with our key stakeholders, customers and broader business.
The successful candidate will create a team environment where people take accountability for their behaviour and commitments, and you will look to create best in class operational excellence as well as ensuring high standards of compliance and workplace safety are embedded in all practices and processes.

What are we looking for?
7. Extensive Events or Food & Beverage industry experience in senior leadership roles
8. Previous senior management experience in a Director or equivalent leadership role in a large integrated resort or high volume environment will be highly regarded
9. Degree or tertiary qualification in either Hospitality, Retail, Business or equivalent
10. Advanced knowledge of the principles and practices within the Events and Hospitality profession
11. Experience in leading large professional hospitality teams in a 5-star environment with revenue turnovers in excess of $20m+ plus per annum
12. Demonstrated ability in planning and resourcing people and products with strong commercial acumen in labour management, and operational expenditure
13. Provide strategic direction and support to the department to ensure an integrated system of employee relations and performance while ensuring organisational objectives are prevalent in any new initiatives.
14. Understanding of relevant statutory and reporting requirements
15. Strong leadership and management skills
