We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Lawyer to join our Public Law & Regulatory Compliance team in Melbourne.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

- Advising clients on subpoenaed documents, identifying documents that may be subject to Legal Professional Privilege, Public Interest Immunity, Secrecy provisions or information that may be a risk for our client. Reviewing and considering appropriate redactions of the documents.
- Serious Offender Act Applications - preparing documents cited by assessors, reviewing and considering redactions, drafting chronologies, submissions, orders and briefs to Counsel, and assisting senior lawyers with the preparation of the matter for hearing.
- Representation in matters including coronial inquests and court proceedings.
- Coronial investigations and inquest - reviewing coronial briefs, drafting statements, preparing written advice, conferencing with witnesses and instructing at inquests.
- Historical Sexual Abuse Claims - assisting in the preparation for mediations or Court hearings, including reviewing reports, drafting chronologies, keeping abreast of case law, discovery.
- Conduct of litigation files.
- Reviewing evidence and drafting advice on the prospects of success (criminal and disciplinary proceedings).
- Appearing in court and instructing Counsel.
- Conducting research in order to keep abreast of legislative changes and case law.
- Contributing to business development activities, such as writing articles, client presentations, webinars and contributing to the RK Vic Gov CPD day.
- Opportunity to design and present CPD seminars.
- Time recording and billing.
- Any other reasonable duties as directed by the Principals.
- Maintains strong information security awareness and follows firm protocols to reduce risk. Stays informed about potential threats, applies best practices, and takes proactive steps to protect the firm\'s systems, data and client information

Skills/Knowledge

- Solid analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and solid relationship building skills.
- Well-developed and effective Business Development skills.

Experience

- Demonstrable desire to work in Public Law and Litigation is essential.
- Up to 3 years\' PAE litigation experience in the areas of prosecutions, public law and/or Administrative Law.
- Experience or knowledge of prosecutions or criminal procedure is highly desirable.
- Other relevant litigation experience will also be considered.
