Brief Summary of role:

The Indigenous Wellbeing Worker plays a critical role in delivering the Child and Family Intensive Support (CaFIS) program, funded by DSS, to families in Katherine and surrounding communities. The role provides intensive case management, working directly with families to address risks, build on strengths, and improve the safety, wellbeing, and development of children.

Key Responsibilities:


• Provide case management to families, including assessment, planning, and regular review of support plans.


• Deliver services that are culturally safe, trauma-informed, and strengths-based.


• Support families to strengthen parenting capacity, improve child safety and wellbeing, and build resilience.


• Conduct home visits and outreach to families in Katherine and remote communities (e.g. Beswick, Barunga, Mataranka, Rockhole, Binjari).


• Advocate for families to access appropriate services, including health, education, housing, and legal support.


• Build strong, respectful relationships with Aboriginal families, Elders, and community members.


• Engage with schools, health services, Territory Families, and local organisations to ensure wraparound support.


• Support community-led approaches and integrate cultural knowledge into service delivery.


• Work under the direction of the coordinator for daily operational guidance.


• Maintain open, respectful communication with families, colleagues, and stakeholders.


• Participate in team meetings, case reviews, and reflective practice sessions.


• Provide timely updates and feedback to the Coordinator and Manager.


• Undertake other duties as required by management

Salary and Conditions:

Employment Type: Full-time (37.5 hours a week)

EA Classification Range: SCS5

Entitlements/Benefits: 6 Weeks Annual Leave + 2 Weeks Sick Leave + 2 Weeks Ancillary Leave + 1 RDO per Month (Pro-rata basis)

Location: Big Rivers Child & Family Centre - 1/42 Katherine Terrace, Katherine NT 0850

Hours of work: [Monday to Friday | between 08:00am – 4:30pm]

The successful applicant should poses the following attributes, skills and competencies;

* Certificate/Diploma or higher in Community Services or a related field is desirable.
* 2–3 years' experience in case management, ideally in child and family services.
* Experience working with Aboriginal families in regional/remote NT contexts.
* Strong understanding of child protection, trauma-informed practice, and family support frameworks.
* Organisational and advocacy skills, with ability to navigate complex systems.
* Competence with Microsoft Office and case management systems with the ability to complete thorough and accurate case notes.
* Willingness to undertake further training if required
* Valid NT Drivers Licence, Valid Ochre Card, and willingness to undergo a National Police Check
