Career Employment Group Inc is seeking applications for a Trade Assistant Trainee to work with our valued Host Employer in Adelaide. This is a fantastic opportunity to start your career in rail and civil infrastructure while gaining a nationally recognised qualification.
As a trainee, you'll work hands-on in the field while studying towards a Certificate II in Resources and Infrastructure Work Preparation. Your work will support the Adelaide Metropolitan Passenger Rail Network (AMPRN) to ensure it meets all relevant standards for safe, efficient, and reliable operation.
As part of this role, you will learn to:
* Perform civil labouring tasks including excavation, concrete works, fencing, paving, and vegetation management.
* Maintain station and corridor presentation through graffiti removal, litter collection, and minor facility repairs.
* Participate in planned network shutdowns, working before the first and after the last train.
* Support rail maintenance activities through safe operation of tools, equipment, and vehicles.
* Assist with track, platform and facility upgrades.
* Comply with all rail safety and environmental standards, acting as Track Protection Officer where required.
* Contribute to site setup, planning, and team coordination for daily tasks.
Requirements
* Experience in a maintenance, construction, or civil infrastructure environments.
* Hands-on skills in labouring roles, including the use of tools, plant, and equipment.
* Basic understanding of safety, quality, and environmental compliance in construction or maintenance settings.
* Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks to a high standard.
* Ability to work flexible hours including night shift and weekends.
* A current driver's licence (Class C essential, MR desirable).
* Experience in a rail/transport environment is highly desirable.
* Ability to pass a Rail Safety Worker Category 1 medical assessment.
