Our Mitochondrial Medicine and Biology team at The Kids Research Institute is conducting research into mitochondrial diseases, which are devastating disorders with no current cures or effective treatments.
We are seeking a passionate Research Assistant to support and work alongside the Head of the Mitochondrial Team. Responsibilities include:
* Laboratory tasks involving transgenic mice, mammalian cell culture, yeast, Escherichia coli, and purified proteins.
* Data interpretation and analysis.
* Limited troubleshooting and calibration of instruments.
* Maintaining detailed lab records.
* Assisting in event planning and preparation.
* Collaborating to promote the research group's reputation within the community and with stakeholders.
This full-time position at Perth Children's Hospital is offered for one year, with the possibility of extension.
About You
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry, Genetics, or a related discipline, with experience working with transgenic mice.
Key skills and experience include:
* Biochemistry and cell/molecular biology expertise.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Excellent organization and time management abilities.
* Attention to detail.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively, demonstrating initiative.
