An exciting opportunity is available for a Visiting Medical Officer to join our service at the Justice Health and Forensic Mental Health Network.
We are looking for a qualified health care professional with:
* Current registration with Australian Health Practitioner Agency (AHPRA) as a Specialist Hepatologist and relevant specialist qualification in as provided for in the Public Hospitals (Visiting Medical Officers Sessional Contracts) Determination 2014
* Demonstrated experience in the management of liver diseases within a custodial environment or within other disadvantaged and/or high-risk environments
Demonstrated experience in the application of Public Health practice including evidence-based management of complex Public Health issues
* Provide evidence of participation in Continuing Medical Education relevant to this role
* Experience and S100 authorisation in prescribing Highly Specialised Drugs for the treatment of Hepatitis.
* Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills
The Population Health Directorate is responsible for identifying, investigating and organising JHNSW wide responses to matters of significant risk to public health.
The Visiting Medical Officer (VMO) will work in conjunction with the Clinical Director Population Health to provide clinical leadership in the management of liver conditions and hepatitis related outbreaks to protect the health of all JHNSW patients and staff.
The VMO will provide clinical advice and leadership to the multidisciplinary team to ensure appropriate care is provided to patients presenting with liver conditions. The VMO will provide weekly outpatient clinics at Long Bay Hospital Outpatients Department which include virtual consultations. The VMO will provide mentorship, expertise sharing, clinical support for particularly complex cases
