The Opportunity We are seeking an enthusiastic and reliable Sample Management Officer to join a collaborative laboratory team on a 6-month casual contract.
This role is ideal for someone with a qualification in laboratory techniques or a related scientific field who enjoys structured, process-driven work and takes pride in accuracy, compliance, and attention to detail.
You will play an important role in supporting laboratory operations through the secure handling, preparation, and documentation of biological samples, ensuring strict protocols and quality standards are maintained at all times.
Key Responsibilities
* Receive and log biological samples using a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
* Perform basic sample preparation tasks in line with established laboratory procedures
* Maintain accurate documentation and ensure chain of custody requirements are met
* Prepare and dispatch secure sample collection kits
* Monitor stock levels and assist with inventory management
* Maintain compliance with quality, safety, and laboratory standards
* Participate in routine cleaning and maintenance of equipment
* Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment
About You You will bring a strong attention to detail, a methodical approach to tasks, and the ability to follow structured processes in a regulated environment.
To be successful, you will demonstrate:
* A qualification in Laboratory Techniques or a related scientific discipline
* Strong data entry accuracy and attention to detail
* The ability to follow technical procedures and maintain documentation standards
* Good communication skills and the confidence to seek clarification when required
* The ability to work both independently and as part of a small team
* A willingness to handle biological samples in accordance with safety protocols
Working Conditions
* Monday to Friday roster with early finish each day
* Handling of biological specimens with full PPE provided
* Criminal history and probity checks required
* Compliance with workplace safety and regulatory policies
