We are seeking a Supervisor Finance to oversee critical financial operations, with a strong focus onaccounts payable, payroll, and procurement. This is a pivotal role responsible for delivering end-to-endprocure-to-pay processes, ensuring suppliers are paid accurately and on time, payroll is compliant and seamless, and procurement activities meet strict governance and legislative requirements.
In this role, you will lead and coordinate finance staff while taking ownership of theaccounts payable function, ensuring invoices, reconciliations, and payments are processed efficiently and in line with policy, delegations, and GST requirements. You will also oversee payroll operations, ensuring accurate and timely employee payments in accordance with awards, legislation, and Council policies. A key component of the role isprocurement oversight—managing frameworks, policies, tenders, contracts, and compliance processes to ensure transparency, accountability, and value for money across all purchasing activities.
Beyond transactional oversight, you will play a key role insystems accounting administration, maintaining and improving finance systems, workflows, and reporting tools. You will contribute to financial reporting, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives, helping strengthen internal controls and financial governance. This role offers the opportunity to influence how financial systems and processes evolve, particularly in areas such as automation, e-invoicing, and efficiency improvements.

This position is located in the beautiful town of Coonabarabran, known as the Astronomy Capital of Australia, which is midway between Melbourne and Brisbane and is known for its beautiful landscape and stunning night skies. Selection Criteria Include
Demonstrated commitment to work health and safety (WHS) in the workplaceTertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field (minimum Certificate IV) and/or extensive experience in an accounting environment or similar role (minimum five years).Demonstrated experience in financial reporting, procurement, accounts payable, payroll, and systems accounting within Local Government or a comparable environment.Experience using financial management information systems, with a preference for Authority (Civica) or similar knowledge of the Local Government Code of Accounting Practice and Financial Reporting, Australian Accounting Standards, the Local Government Act, and other relevant legislation and level of attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and data management.Class C driver's licence.
It Is a Plus If You Have
Previous experience working in Local Government or the broader public sector.Progress toward, or completion of, further accounting studies.Familiarity with the Local Government (State) Award.Well-developed skills in motivation, negotiation, and team participation.
